The Somali Elephant is part of the "African Wildlife" collection, inspired by wild animals found in Africa.

The series of silver coins depicting us the silhouette of the Somali elephant had its beginning in 2004. From the very beginning, the values in the series have been the official bullion coins of the Republic of Somalia. Each year the image of the elephant on the coin's reverse changes, which makes the series unique and attractive to collectors. This makes the Somali elephant coin series one of the most recognizable and popular bullion coin series in the world.

The reverse of the coin depicts a silhouette of an adult elephant. The image fills practically the entire frame and gives the impression as if the animal wanted to come out of it. All this takes place against the backdrop of an African savannah landscape. Above is the inscription describing the collection - "African Wildlife" and below is the weight and sample of the coin. The obverse of the coin depicts the Somali coat of arms - two leopards supporting a shield with a star in the center. It also features the coin's denomination - 100 Somali shillings (SOS), the year of mintage and the inscription "Somali Republic."
