Nautical Ounce Gold Coin: Kruzenshtern 2026, 1/12 ounce

The silver coin presented here was issued in a weight of 1/12 ounce.

The four-masted barque "Kruzenshtern" was built in 1926 in a German shipyard and initially sailed under the name "Padua." After the end of World War II, the ship was transferred to the Soviet Union, where it was named after the famous sailor and explorer Ivan Kruzenshtern. The vessel is over 114 meters long and is still considered one of the largest training sailing ships in the world. On board, maritime trainees gain practical knowledge of sail maneuvering, teamwork, and navigation. The Kruzenshtern is a regular participant in international sailing ship rallies and Tall Ships Races, during which it visits numerous European ports, including those in Poland. Despite almost a century of service, the ship still impresses with its silhouette and remains an important symbol of sailing tradition.

The reverse of the gold bullion coin features an artistic representation of the sailing ship Kruzenshtern sailing on the open sea. The design is enriched with decorative maritime elements, such as a stylized wind rose referring to ancient ocean voyages. The reverse features information about the series name, year of issue, weight, and gold fineness, with the ship's name at the bottom. The obverse of the coin is decorated with the coat of arms of Rwanda, the country issuing the coin, and the denomination of 100 Rwandan francs, giving the coin the status of legal tender.
