Silver Round Legendary Warriors: Achilles, 1 oz
Achilles is the hero of the latest edition of the series dedicated to legendary warriors.
The value refers to Greek mythology and the figure of a famous warrior named Achilles.
Achilles became famous during the War of Troy, and although he eventually died before it was conquered, it was his character that was said to have contributed most to the Greeks' capture of the city. According to Greek mythology, this warrior was even distinguished by his immortality, which was ensured by bathing in the River Styx immediately after his birth. He was immune to arrows and blows of enemies, but his weak point turned out to be his heel, by which his mother held the little Achilles while immersing him in the river. It is from this figure that the terms "Achilles' tendon" or "Achilles' heel", used today, originate.
The reverse of the coin depicts in the foreground the figure of Achilles in the characteristic attire of a Greek warrior. His head is protected by an ornate helmet, and his hands are armed with a shield and a spear. In the background one can see the soldiers fighting each other and the city's buildings, which certainly represent the defensive walls of Troy. Above, near the edge of the reverse is the inscription "Achilles." No surprises can be found on the reverse of the coin, as it was decorated with the same pattern as previous editions of the series. These are crossed tools at the central point, which are the weapons of the legendary warriors.
