Benjamin Franklin Copper Round, 1 oz.
The first medal in the Founders of Liberty series made of pure copper.
Benjamin Franklin is one of the pioneers of promoting the idea of freedom of communication.
Benjamin Franklin was an American politician, writer, scientist, inventor, diplomat and philanthropist. He was born in Boston to a family of a leatherworker and attended school only until the age of 10. He self-educated in the natural sciences, read many books and conducted his own scientific experiments. Franklin gained fame as an inventor, inventing, among other things, the lightning rod. He was one of the founding fathers of the United States and participated in the drafting of the US Constitution. As a writer and literary figure, he promoted the ideas of freedom of the press, religion and free speech, as this, according to him, was the determinant of freedom prevailing in the State.
The obverse of the copper coin presents the likeness of Benjamin Franklin, facing right. It is depicted against a plain background. At the bottom is placed the name of the figure. The reverse shows us an old-fashioned printing press on which Franklin worked as a printer in his youth. Around it are placed symbols of nine world religions. At the very top is an inscription proclaiming Freedom of Speech, Press and Religion. At the very bottom are placed the weight and sample of the metal from which the currency was made.
