The 1 franc coin with the image of a sower was minted in Switzerland between 1898 and 1920. The obverse featured an allegorical figure of a sower, symbolizing hope and labor, depicted in a dynamic pose against the backdrop of a rising sun. The design was done by medallic artist Oscar Roty, and the style of the coin refers to the Art Nouveau trend. The coin was made of high-grade silver, making it prized both in circulation and among collectors.

The reverse of this circulation coin depicts the figure of a woman sowing grain, with a distinctive Phrygian cap blown by the wind.
