Pirate Queens: Ching Shih 2021, 1 oz Silver Coin

The collection is dedicated to the Pirate Queens - women who were once feared by sailors.

We are pleased to present the second installment of the series, the first issue of which gained considerable popularity among collectors. Interesting subject matter and a mintage limited to 10,000 copies of the issue encourage purchase. The latest coin is dedicated to Ching Shih - a Chinese pirate who, together with her husband, commanded a powerful fleet of pirate ships that wreaked havoc off the coast of China. At its peak, there were said to be 1,500 ships and more than 60,000 men under her command!

The reverse of the cylinder depicts a ship commanded by Ching Shih. The ship, with its sails spread, is floating on the high seas. Above can be seen the silhouette of a majestic phoenix, which, as one of China's national symbols, emphasizes the origin of the pirate Queen. At the upper right edge of the reverse was the inscription Ching Shih, and on the left was the coin's weight and silver sample. The currency is the official legal tender of the Solomon Islands - its obverse is therefore decorated with the face of Queen Elizabeth II.
