Niue Hibernia 2022 Silver Coin, 1 oz

The Silver Hiberna is another interesting addition to yourcollection.

The coin owes its name to the Latin word hibernus, meaning wintery, cold. The Romans used this term to describe Ireland as a cold and unpleasant island. The silver coin depicts the female personification of Hiberna as a strong woman - a warrior. Throughout the entire period of the empire's rule, the Romans did not attempt to conquer the island, but only maintained trade relations with it. They claimed that the climate of Ireland did not allow for the cultivation of grain, but that exceptionally lush grass grew there, making it ideal for pasture. 

The reverse of this silver investment coin depicts the personification of Hibernia. She is shown as a woman leaning her left hand on a harp and holding a spear in her right hand. Around it is information about the weight of the coin and the fineness of the silver from which it was made. On the obverse, unlike the previous edition, where the issuer was the state of Tokelau, we see the coat of arms of the island of Niue along with the date of issue and the denomination.
