Silver Coin Nautical Ounce: Kruzenshtern 2026 BU, 1 ounce
Nautical Ounce is a series inspired by famous vessels.
A silver bullion coin featuring an image of a famous ship.
The sailing ship "Kruzenshtern" is an impressive four-masted barque launched in 1926 in Germany, where it was originally named "Padua." After post-war changes, the ship was transferred to the Soviet Union and named after the famous traveler and explorer Ivan Kruzenshtern. The ship is over 114 meters long and is one of the largest active training sailing ships in the world. On board, successive generations of maritime students gain experience in rigging and traditional navigation. The Kruzenshtern is a regular participant in the prestigious Tall Ships Races and regularly moors in European ports, including Polish cities on the Baltic Sea. Despite its nearly 100-year history, the ship still impresses with its silhouette and reminds us of the golden age of great sailing ships.
The reverse of the silver bullion coin features a dynamic scene with the Kruzenshtern sailing ship sailing on a stormy sea. The composition is complemented by subtle maritime details, including a wind rose motif referring to old navigation maps. Information about the series, year of issue, weight, and silver fineness is placed along the edge, and the name of the ship is clearly visible at the bottom. The obverse is decorated with the national emblem of Rwanda, the issuer of the coin, along with the denomination of 50 Rwandan francs, confirming its status as legal tender.
