This is the first of two coins in the series, which was released in 2020.

The Giants of the Ice Age collection depicts the silhouettes of the largest animals that trekked on planet Earth in the period leading up to the Great Ice Age. Two coins are released each year in this series. The present issue takes a closer look at the image of the saber-toothed tiger - one of the fiercest predators of this era in Earth's history. A distinctive feature of this species was the long and infernally sharp fangs protruding from the tiger's mouth.

The reverse of the presented coin was dominated by the image of a saber-toothed tiger. The animal is depicted in a position ready to leap. From the open mouth of the animal protrude sharp fangs that can easily deliver a fatal blow. The obverse of the coin depicts the national coat of arms of Ghana - the country where the coin is the official means of payment. The presented series is liked by collectors, due to the small mintage of 15,000 copies and the reverse, which changes with each issue.
