Silver Coin Switzerland, 5 Francs, 1917 - 1967, 15gr.
Silver circulating coin of 5 Francs weighing 15 grams with a silver sample of 0.835
Silver circulation coins combine bullion value with numismatic history.
The Swiss 5 franc coin issued between 1917 and 1967 was the country's largest silver circulation coin. It was made of sterling silver and weighed 15 grams, so it also had bullion value. The obverse depicted an image of Helvetia or a shepherd's head wearing a wreath, depending on the vintage. The reverse was decorated with the inscription "5 FR" along with the Swiss coat of arms and floral ornaments. The coin was an important part of monetary circulation and a symbol of Switzerland's economic stability. Today it is a prized collector's item, especially in well-preserved condition. Due to its silver content, it was discontinued after 1967 and replaced by a base metal version. Older copies, however, have retained significant collector and investment value.
The presented coin is a circulation coin and may have scratches, scuffs and dings. The photo is illustrative - the shipped coin may differ in its state of preservation. The coin is sent randomly - it is not possible to indicate a specific variant and vintage.
