The Chinese Panda is a popular investment coin issued by The Bank of China

The history of Chinese silver pandas spans over 40 years. We present another silver coin from this Asian country. From the very beginning, the coin was inspired by China’s national symbol—the giant panda, also known as the bamboo bear. Today, the coin owes its popularity not only to its somewhat unusual weight of 30 grams but also to its reverse design, which changes every year, making it a sought-after item among collectors as well.

The reverse depicts two seated pandas—a parent and a cub—against the backdrop of a bamboo forest. The denomination, weight of the coin, and silver content are also indicated here. The obverse of the coin has remained unchanged since its inception—it features the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Below is the year of minting, and above is the inscription “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese.
