Prehistoric Life II: Triceratops 2024 Color Silver Coin, 1 oz

Prehistoric Life II is a continuation of a very well-received series of silver values.

Triceratops was an impressive herbivorous dinosaur of the ceratopsid family that lived at the end of the Cretaceous period, some 68 to 66 million years ago, in what is now North America. One of Triceratops' most recognizable features is its three large horns on its head. Two of these horns were set above the eyes and the third on the nose. They were probably used for defense against predators or in competition for females. Despite its impressive appearance, Triceratops was a herbivore, feeding mainly on low vegetation such as ferns, needles and low shrubs.

On the reverse of the silver investment coin, we are shown a silhouette of a Triceratops. The animal stands surrounded by forest ferns, which are part of its food. Above its head is the name of the animal, the range of years in which it could be found on earth, as well as the year the coin was issued. The obverse remained unchanged for the series, depicting the Congolese coat of arms, along with the coin's weight and denomination.
