This is the third edition of a remarkable series of numismatic coins from South Korea

Following the release of the Sword of Archangel Michael, decorated with the famous prayer to him, and the similarly decorated Sword of Saint Gabriel, both of which were made from 2.5 ounces of pure silver, today we are pleased to present the third of four unique editions. This time, Archangel Raphael was honored not with a sword, but with a halberd.

The halberd is a weapon that rose to prominence in the Middle Ages, but its roots go back to the early Bronze Age in Western Europe. It is basically an axe with a spike placed on a long handle. The halberd was the weapon that killed King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field in England in 1485, the last major battle of the Wars of the Roses, which led to the Tudor dynasty that ruled England until 1603, including the most famous King Henry VIII and his daughter, Queen Elizabeth I. The halberd is also the weapon currently carried by the Vatican's Swiss Guard.

The halberd on display is extremely ornate, in keeping with its mythological origins, and is slightly shorter than the typical 1.5-2.5 meters in length. One could say that it was designed to be wielded by a being that doesn't really need a weapon. As with the previous two editions, this halberd is stunning, full of intricate details on both sides, and was certainly made to be displayed in a place where it can be admired in all its glory.
