James Madison (March 16, 1751 - June 28, 1836) was an American politician and was the eighth president of the United States. He was born in Port Conway, Virginia and is considered one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Author of the United States Constitution: Madison was one of the principal authors of the U.S. Constitution and is considered the "father of the Constitution." Together with Alexander Hamilton and John Jay, he wrote the famous essays known as the Federalist Papers, which aimed to persuade the people to support the new Constitution.

On the obverse of this copper medal we see one of the founding fathers of the United States, James Madison. Here we see his bust with his eyes raised. Below it is placed his name along with his surname. On the back of the cylinder I have the other founding fathers shown, standing proudly in line against the backdrop of the Declaration of Independence. Above is the inscription WRITEN CONSTITUTION, while at the very bottom is the weight and silver content.
