Oregon Trail Copper Medal, 1 oz.
A copper investment medal referring to a historic American coin.
The copper medal is an interesting option for precious metals investors and enthusiasts alike.
The prototype of the copper medal, the Oregon Trail Memorial Half Dollar coin is an American silver half-dollar minted between 1926 and 1939 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Oregon Trail, which was used by settlers to travel west. It was designed by a pair of sculptors, James Earl Fraser and his wife, Laura Gardin Fraser. The Oregon Trail was a historic migration route in the United States that in the 19th century connected Missouri to the Willamette Valley in the present-day state of Oregon. The trail, some 3,500 kilometers long, was used by pioneers, settlers, trappers and gold prospectors between 1830 and 1869. It ran through difficult terrain - mountains, rivers, prairies and deserts - and was challenging due to the harsh travel conditions and the dangers of disease and food shortages.
On the obverse of the medal, we see the iconic image of a hip-banded Indian standing over a map of the United States. On the reverse, meanwhile, we can see an Indian teepee with a moon under the inscription "American Indian Series," and below it the words "Pride Strength Courage," "Golden State Mint" and "1 oz .999 Copper."
