The coin's reverse depicts the coat of arms of Australia, which includes the insignia of the six states of the commonwealth on a shield surrounded by an ermine border, symbolizing the Australian Federation of 1901. Above the shield is the jewel of the coat of arms with a seven-pointed star, while the sides of the coat of arms support the kangaroo and emu, both of which are native animals of Australia. On the obverse we see a portrait of King Charles III along with the denomination of 1 Australian dollar.
