It is one of the most recognizable animals of the African continent, a symbol of wildlife and its majesty. Rhinos live alone or in small groups, and their lifestyle is very different from herd predators. An adult individual can weigh even more than two tons, and despite its weight it moves surprisingly fast and agile - on the run it can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h. The most distinctive element of their appearance is the horn, which unfortunately became the cause of their dramatic situation. Poaching, fueled by the demand for rhino horn in some cultures, has led to a drastic decline in their numbers. Added to this is the loss of natural habitat due to human activities. Today, rhino conservation is one of the biggest conservation challenges, and their survival requires strong international action.

The reverse of this silver coin depicts a dynamic silhouette of a running rhino, showing its power and energy. The lower part features the name of the issuing country, the series and the year of issue. Centrally at the very bottom is the emblem of South Africa, emphasizing its authenticity. The obverse of the coin is decorated in a unique way - the central circle features the denomination, weight and silver sample, which separate the two halves of the rhino's head. When the two are juxtaposed, a full, majestic portrait of this remarkable animal is created.
