"80 Days Around the World" is an adventure novel written by French writer Jules Verne, first published in 1873. The book tells the story of an eccentric English gentleman named Phileas Fogg, who bets that he can travel around the world in exactly 80 days. To fulfill this challenge, Fogg and his faithful servant Passepartout embark on a journey from London, traversing different continents and using various means of transportation, such as trains, ships, elephants, and balloons. During this journey, they encounter various adventures, make friends, and face many adversities.

On the reverse of this silver collector coin, we see the main characters of the novel, Phileas and Passepartout traveling on the back of an elephant. They traverse the Indian jungle on the animal's back. Noteworthy is the extraordinary attention to detail of the cylinder. This is especially evident in the texture of the elephant's skin, or the precise execution of the tropical foliage. The obverse presents us with all the means of transportation used by our heroes to travel the world; we see here a train, ship, stagecoach, camels and a balloon. It also shows the emblem of Niue, where the coin is legal tender with a denomination of 5 New Zealand dollars.
