Cameroon Silver Coin, Durga 2023, 1 ounce (gilded)

This silver bullion coin features Durga, a Hindu deity. Durga is one of the most important goddesses in Hinduism. She is considered the personification of Divine Energy and the Mother of the Universe. Her name derives from the Sanskrit word meaning "invincible" or "unconquerable." Durga is often depicted as a beautiful woman with many arms, each holding a weapon, and a wild lion serves as her mount. 

On the reverse of the coin, we see the figure of Durga sitting on a reclining lion. In each of her eight hands, the goddess wields various weapons.  The figure is depicted against a background of distinctive patterns referencing the universe, with lotus flowers standing out most prominently. The figures of Durga, the lion, and the lotus flowers have been additionally coated with a layer of gold, while the background has been blackened using ruthenium. The reverse features the golden coat of arms of Cameroon on a black background within a similar ornamental frame.
