Presenting the second installment of the Czech Lion bullion coin series

The Czech Lion is the first Czech bullion coin dedicated to one of the country's symbols. According to legend, the Czech prince Bruncvik was said to have embarked on a journey shortly after assuming the throne, during which he encountered a lion fighting a dragon. In exchange for his help in slaying the dragon, the lion became a devoted servant of the Czech ruler. Since then, the king of the animals has not left the Czech ruler's side. This coin is an interesting part of the collection for enthusiasts of the history of Slavic countries. This is because it shows the evolution of the local national symbol, the Czech lion. This rendition of this heraldic animal reflects the changes that have taken place in the history of our southern neighbors.

The 2018 silver bullion coin presented here has an identical reverse to the previous year's coin. On it we see a lion lying proudly next to a knightly shield with an image of an eagle. The rim features the inscription "Ceska Republika" and the coin's weight and silver sample. The coin is issued as the official legal tender of Niue. Hence, in addition to the Czech eagle symbol, the obverse features the $2 denomination and the likeness of Queen Elizabeth II.
