Stegosaurus is the hero of the latest installment of the popular series.

Stegosaurus was a large dinosaur about 9 meters long that lived in what is now North America. Stegosaurus were herbivores and probably fed on low plants such as ferns and sagebrush. The most distinctive feature of stegosaurs were their bony discs on the back (called plates) and tail spurs. These plates had different shapes and may have had different functions, such as body temperature regulation, intraspecific communication or defense against predators.

The reverse of the silver cylinder presents us with two stegosaurids. In the foreground we see only the head and a fragment of the torso of one of the individuals, behind it we see another, already in all its glory. Behind it stretches a Jurassic landscape covered with lush vegetation. At the top is the name of the animal along with the extent of its life on earth. Slightly below is the date of issue of the coin. The obverse shows the coat of arms of the Republic of Congo along with the denomination.
