Brorn Stormfrost was a Viking who was said to have been born during a storm, when lightning lit up the sky over the northern sea. His nickname came from the fact that he fought with the fury of a storm and the calmness of ice — violent in attack, unmoved by fear. He commanded a longship whose sails were said to never drop before the wind, regardless of the weather. In battle, he wielded a heavy hammer, and each blow was said to sound like thunder shattering rocks. According to legend, he swore allegiance to the gods of the north and believed that only the fiercest battle would secure him a place in glory after death. The songs of the skalds portray him as a stern warrior, but loyal to his crew until his last breath.
