Valkyries Silver Coin: Ostara 2023, 1 oz

The series is dedicated to Germanic goddesses, and the mintage of each coin is limited to 25,000 pieces.

The series of silver coins is dedicated to the Valkyries, mythical goddesses whose task was to lead fallen warriors to Valhalla. Valhalla was a place of ceaseless battles and feasts that followed one another, and only the bravest of the fallen warriors took part in them. The second Valkyrie to whom the second coin in the series is dedicated is Ostara, the goddess symbolizing spring rebirth and a return to life. The English name for the Easter holidays—Easter—derives from her name.

The obverse of the silver coin depicts Ostara strolling through a meadow accompanied by a stag, a symbol of belonging to the natural world. Trees are visible in the background, and in the distance, another stag and a hare—a symbol of rebirth. Ostara is dressed in a spring gown and wears a necklace featuring the Berkanan rune, a symbol of fertility and healing. The reverse of the coin, like the previous coin in the series, resembles a shield. The manufacturer’s coat of arms, a two-headed eagle, is placed on the right, while on the left, the howling wolf has been replaced by a deer.
