Splinter is a wise and experienced martial arts master and protector of the Ninja Turtles. He is an anthropomorphic rat who gained his fighting skills from observing his human master Hamato Yoshi or, in some versions of the story, being Yoshi himself transformed into a rat. He acts as a mentor and father figure to Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael, teaching them not only martial arts, but also values such as honor, cooperation and responsibility. Despite his strictness, he is affectionate and devoted to the Turtles, treating them as his own children. His wisdom and strategic skills have repeatedly helped the heroes in their fight against enemies such as Shredder and his clan.

The reverse of the silver coin depicts Splinter's rat in a purple kimono. in the lower left part we can see the character's name, at the very top near the rim the year of issue and information about the license granted. On the silver coin the figure is depicted at the moment of jumping brandishing his favorite set of weapons. The obverse features a portrait of the current King of Great Britain, Charles III, along with the denomination and year of issue.
