Alkonost is one of the most fascinating creatures in Slavic mythology. This mysterious monster, depicted as half-female, half-bird, symbolizes beauty and terror at the same time, combining the characteristics of a mermaid and a harpy. The name Alkonost derives from the Greek myth of the goddess Alcyone, transformed by the gods into a kingfisher. In Slavic beliefs, however, Alkonost retains its distinctiveness, combining elements of local legends with Byzantine and Greek influences. His voice is extremely beautiful and enchanting, but listening to it can lead to loss of senses or death. In Slavic mythology, Alkonost is often considered a symbol of prophecy and fate, capable of bringing both joy and doom.

The reverse of the collector coin shows Alkonost - a beast with the head and torso of a woman combined with the body of a bird. The monster is clad in ornate robes and a golden crown. In his hands he holds a bouquet of flowers. His wings protrude from his back, which, along with his clothes and flowers, have been refined through coloring and selective gilding. Next to the beast reads the name of the series and the coin. The obverse of the coin is decorated with the emblem of the state of Cameroon, surrounded by symbols referring to the bestiary of Slavic mythology. The product is packaged in an elegant wooden case containing a certificate confirming its authenticity.
