The goldback is a solution to provide people with freedom from dependence on the government and the monetary paper-based financial system, while encouraging investment in gold as a valuable commodity. However, it is not an official currency in the U.S. and is not widely accepted as a form of payment. The goldback comes in the form of a $1, $5, $10, $20 and $50 bill, each of which is fully gold-based. This means that for each of these denominations, it can be exchanged for a certain amount of gold.

The 50 Goldback banknote depicts the most important of American virtues, Libertas, or Freedom. she is depicted as a mid-20th century traveler passing through Yellowstone National Park. The symbols that accompany her are inspired by the Old Testament story of Deborah. She wanders surrounded by wild raspberry blossoms, carrying a backpack on her back and a flashlight in her left hand in place of a traditional flashlight. In her right hand she holds a staff, which symbolizes divine guidance, and on her left wrist hangs a canteen, which symbolizes life flowing from Freedom. In addition, a sword hangs from her backpack, and a shield lies at her feet, symbolizing the constant need to be ready to defend Freedom from those who would take it away.
