The reverse of this gold one depicts one of the largest mammals found on the African plains, the elephant. In this year's edition, we see a Somali elephant reaching with its trunk into the branches of trees. A section of the African savannah can be seen in the background. The obverse depicts the Somali coat of arms, consisting of a shield placed in the center, supported by two leopards. At the bottom is placed a ribbon and two crossed palm leaves. This side of the currency remains unchanged every year.
